Take it or leave it...

Thursday, September 5: Pass on some useful advice or information you learned and always remembered.

Here we go kids I have a wealth of knowledge stored up in here...

First things first, when you wear a dress out always make sure it's not tucked into your underwear when leaving the ladies room.  You don't want a stranger to have to tell you especially when at first you think they are complementing you but then you soon realize they are just trying to help you out.

If there is an open bar at a work/internship/professional event DONT I repeat DONT drink it.  It's a test.  You may think its okay but next thing you know you have made an ass of yourself mocking the vice president of said company using an australian accent. Only you won't even know they are important until it's done with just excuse yourself from the event early or stick around to see those who took the bait fail.

If you are underage at a party with alcohol never tell a cop you aren't even old enough to drink when asked if you have been drinking.

When getting a spray tan don't leave your hair down you will have a bad tan line. You should also try to avoid wearing white the  day after getting said spray tan if you are going to be sweating like crazy.

I could go on all day but you should probably just take some time to absorb that knowledge for now.

Recruitment Season

Oh recruitment time.
As exhausting as it always was, I actually kinda miss it even all the singing.

Unfortunately one year I had Mono during recruitment and I didn't even know it until halfway through the week. I just thought my throat was getting sore from all the singing and talking and then I started to feel feverish and noticed white pockets on the back of my throat. Eww.  This was a sign I should probably head to urgent care and sure enough I had Mono.  That explained alot of the pain and how miserable I was during the first 3 days of recruitment and talking and singing all day looonng.  I sat out or laid out in bed the next two days and felt much better by Bid Day. (My favorite day of course.)

Well anyway my advice for going through recruitment...

1.  Don't stress! Seriously things will work out how they are suppose to and recruitment is fun, you meet so many great people and new friends.

2. Sounds corny but be yourself and relax.  Chapters want to meet the real you not the fake you for the week.

3. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I know when I would be rushing a girl I loved it when she asked questions because it helped get the conversation going and showed she had interest in my chapter.

4. Always be polite! Even if the house you are visiting isn't your top choice do not be rude.  The girls in other houses will still be on campus with you regardless if you choose to join their chapter or not.  You don't want to be known as the hateful girl during recruitment, you will get talked about.

5. Clean up your facebook, twitter ect.  You don't want to come across trashy and unclassy when you are creeped on by girls, which you will be creeped on.  I wouldn't delete or go inactive on my accounts because honestly when I would go to search for a girl I always thought it was a little weird and boring when I couldn't find anything just keep it classy.

6. Keep an open mind, it's your choice not those around you.

Also I would take a tote bag full of the things I might need like, comfortable shoes to walk in, a water bottle, snacks, mints, camera, hand sanitizer, baby wipes, bandaids, a battery operated fan, a watch,  and whatever else your heart desires.

And of course one of my favorite Youtube videos on why you should join a So-rawr-ity.

I'm a Jerk.

It's true. I'm a jerk.

I missed my own Blogiversary.

(G and I  waaayyyy back in the day.)

Back in the day (one year ago), which happened to be a Wednesday, March 21st my sister G and I started occupying this space on the interwebz, just writing about random things in life.  This was when G actually carried her weight and I didn't have to kick her off my blog to start her own.

What do you know a year later I am still here.  Who says I can't commit to anything?

A year ago I had zero followers, I didn't know anyone with a blog or even really how it worked, my mom wasn't even following me.

I hate to be that person that says "people told me to start a blog so I did"  because then you are thinking "oh girl shut up no one said for you to start a blog", but a few did so I thought about it for a long time and when I graduated college, had no life and didn't have shat else to do it happened and I am so glad I did.

I love this little blog and have met so many great people through blogging.  I have learned so much over the past year, yet I still feel like a new blogger most of the time.

I guess I can now consider myself a blogger. Right?  Should I have like business cards or something made? Quit my job to blog?

After all I do have a fancy camera.  (So what if I have never used it to take pictures for the blog.)

I own several bauble necklaces and a chevron dress.

I love Target. (I still have never one a giftcard through a giveaway though.)

I finally bought a MacBook.

Don't all those things make me an official blogger now?

Except for one little thing....the Mormon's still haven't contacted me about being inducted into the secret blogging circle.  I'm sure they just got my URL wrong or my email wasn't linked correctly.

Most of all though Thank You to all my readers without you I would just be talking to myself all the time.  Maybe that is still kinda true, but never mind.

If you have never commented do so and leave me your blog URL I would love to visit. :)

Whoop there it is.

When you start college you get so much advice.

People tell you what classes you should take, don't dress up on the first day of school, don't accept a bid to such and such house because they are bottom tier, only freshmen walk up the front steps of Morril hall, don't drink the punch at that chapters house parties ect. ect.

What people don't tell you is only take the minimum hours each semester and get fifty minors so you can stay in school forever.

They don't tell you that once you earn that degree and walk across that stage life is over.

They don't tell you that you may spend forever searching for a job or that you will most likely end up with your parents as your room mates and will live hours away from all your best friends.

They don't tell you that you will most likely have to get a job that you hate for a while and probably be miserable or that you will be in bed before 10 every night.

They don't tell you that everyone will now expect you to get married right away and if you don't have a significant other everyone will want to know why because after all you are considered old now and that is what you do after college.

You don't get summer break and Spring Break becomes a past time.
If you over sleep you can't just go back to sleep and try again tomorrow getting the notes from a friend, your boss WILL want to know why you aren't there.

You will probably have to start paying for your own shit. like cell phones, yeah apparently they aren't free and gas, who knew how expensive that stuff was?!

I don't know about any of you, but I did not sign up for this.  This is not how "adult" life always looked on facebook.

If you are still in college hang on foreevvveerrrr and enjoy every second.

If you are a post grad like moi, bless your heart and may the odds be ever in your favor.

This couldn't explain it any better.

Whoop there it is.

Happy Hump Day.
