It's coming along...

My bedroom is starting to come together, slowly but surely which is more than I can say for the rest of the place we haven't really done much decorating yet.

Since I love anchors and all things nautical I decorated my room in coral and navy and went with the nautical theme.

(Excuse the wrinkled comforter we had to stand on the bed to hand the canvases)

I plan to put lamps on each of the night stands and maybe mirrors or something behind those so the wall won't look so bare but that hasn't happened yet.

I saw some painted canvases on Pinterest similar to this and of course decided to make my own.
I must say this was my first time to try painting chevron and it was not as easy as it looks and up close it's not real pretty either but what are you gonna do?

I just took 4 white painting canvases and on the ones that I painted chevron I cut a chevron stencil using my Silhouette Cameo and painted over it with coral paint then I used navy vinyl and cut the different nautical shapes.

When I pulled the sticky stencil's off this is what it looked like, then I just added the navy vinyl.

I hung this anchor picture in my bathroom, its hard to see in the picture but it is outlined with rope.

I finally put up my matching shower curtain.

I still need something for this area its pretty bare.

I hung up my picture board and necklace board and place to do something with the opposite wall but haven't decided yet.

So there it is my bedroom as it is coming along.

It's a girl!

My sister found out this week that she is having a girl!

I was hoping for a nephew but I know we will all enjoy a girl just as much.  I was only hoping for a boy because we seem to have more girls than boys in the family but I guess we are pretty good with girly things so it will work out. :)

Just some cute things I have found that will be a must for my new niece.
Plenty of huge bows and headbands of course.

Monogrammed paci's

Chevron for baby!

I got Baby Girl these Sperry's and they were her favorite shoes so I need to get the new baby a pair.

There are so many cute things I can't wait to buy, my bank account is going to suffer but maybe they will go with my name suggestions and decide to name the baby Sydney Jr.

Easy DIY Office Decor

I needed some office decor so of course I turned to Pinterest and found some DIY ideas.

(wonderful iphone quality pics I always forget to use my good camera.)

I made this cute pen/pencil holder, it was super easy and I love the way it turned out.

All you need is a mason jar and paint color of your choice.  I added a monogram decal that I made with my Silhouette Cameo and some well I'm really not sure what it is but I want to call it twine.

I just squeezed some paint into the jar and rolled the paint around in the jar using a paint brush to cover all the sides, then I added some more paint and turned the jar upside down for a while until I had a good covering on all sides.  This actually took more paint than I expected but I bought a small bottle of paint just for this so it worked out.

After I added the monogram and twine I just left the jar sitting out right side up to dry.
WARNING though I had mine sitting out for like a day and a half then took it to work and put all my pens in it and apparently the paint in the bottom of the jar was thicker and not quite dry so I had teal paint all over my pens and my hands so you want to allow it plenty of time to dry or if you are impatient like me use a hair dryer.

I also made this for my desk after seeing this quote on Pinterest.  I just found the frame at Hob Lob and printed out the quote.

That's all I made for my office so far but soon I will post what I have made for my new place.

Brokenhearted.

My heart is broken.

Friday Mama C took Baby Girl for her weekend visitation when she got there to drop her off she learned she would not be picking her back up Sunday afternoon like usual.  Baby Girl is back with her biological family now and won't be coming home.

If you haven't been reading a while, Baby Girl was our foster baby.  We have raised her for over a year, longer than her biological family had her.  She was "ours" to my family she wasn't just a foster baby.  My parents had plans to adopt her and a few months ago DHS  vaguely told Mama C their goal was to send her home by the end of summer after leading us to believe we would most likely get to adopt her.  We were given no date and little information.

I ask that everyone please pray for my family during this difficult time, Baby Girl was our world and now it is shattered.  Please pray that she will be taken care of and be kept safe her home life isn't the best situation.
(Just like her NeNe)

I don't know what we will do without her in our life now.

I will be thinking of you constantly sissy and nothing can ever fill this void in my life.

Recruitment Season

Oh recruitment time.
As exhausting as it always was, I actually kinda miss it even all the singing.

Unfortunately one year I had Mono during recruitment and I didn't even know it until halfway through the week. I just thought my throat was getting sore from all the singing and talking and then I started to feel feverish and noticed white pockets on the back of my throat. Eww.  This was a sign I should probably head to urgent care and sure enough I had Mono.  That explained alot of the pain and how miserable I was during the first 3 days of recruitment and talking and singing all day looonng.  I sat out or laid out in bed the next two days and felt much better by Bid Day. (My favorite day of course.)

Well anyway my advice for going through recruitment...

1.  Don't stress! Seriously things will work out how they are suppose to and recruitment is fun, you meet so many great people and new friends.

2. Sounds corny but be yourself and relax.  Chapters want to meet the real you not the fake you for the week.

3. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I know when I would be rushing a girl I loved it when she asked questions because it helped get the conversation going and showed she had interest in my chapter.

4. Always be polite! Even if the house you are visiting isn't your top choice do not be rude.  The girls in other houses will still be on campus with you regardless if you choose to join their chapter or not.  You don't want to be known as the hateful girl during recruitment, you will get talked about.

5. Clean up your facebook, twitter ect.  You don't want to come across trashy and unclassy when you are creeped on by girls, which you will be creeped on.  I wouldn't delete or go inactive on my accounts because honestly when I would go to search for a girl I always thought it was a little weird and boring when I couldn't find anything just keep it classy.

6. Keep an open mind, it's your choice not those around you.

Also I would take a tote bag full of the things I might need like, comfortable shoes to walk in, a water bottle, snacks, mints, camera, hand sanitizer, baby wipes, bandaids, a battery operated fan, a watch,  and whatever else your heart desires.

And of course one of my favorite Youtube videos on why you should join a So-rawr-ity.

Grown Up Problems

I am trying to get back into the habit of blogging again slowly but surely it will happen.

It's week 2 of the new job and I still love it, it is really a great new experience.  This week has been a rough one with the new life adjustments and some other tough stuff going on in my life but what are you gonna do? keep on keeping on.

Sometimes I forget I am not actually just away at college and this is pretty much the intro to real grown up life which leads me to my next point...

Reasons I might not be a real grown up...

Mama C still did my laundry and cooked all my meals up until last weekend.

I love capri suns.

Pizza Lunchables and pizza rolls are in my top 5 favorite foods.

I rarely do anything by myself except go to work and thats just because it would probably be frowned upon to bring your mama or bestie along everyday.

Party in the USA still ranks high on my favorite jams list.

I have forgotten to bring my lunch  to work everyday this week and picking a lunch spot for a different day every day of the week can be hard.

I had to call my sister and ask her what options to choose for my benefits.

I'm still not real certain what exactly 401k is or where that money goes.

I'm still not real sure how I feel about big kid world but Papa C said just in case it doesn't work out for me I can always come home so thats reassuring.

Dirty hair don't care.

I have fine hair so I am one of those who have to wash their hair everyday and aren't blessed with hair that can skip a few washes and still look good.

The whole washing, drying and straightening process gets old real quick.  I have done some reading and a few of my friends have told me you have to start out slowly and "train" your hair to be able to go without washing.  This means your hair looking nasty every other day until it starts to get use to not being washed everyday.

That is not something I handle well so I decided to try out a few dry shampoo's over the last several months.   My opinion on the dry shampoo's I tried...

(Suave,  Not Your Mother's & Dove)

Suave actually ended up being my favorite, it worked the best, didn't smell bad and the best part it was the cheapest!  All three were pretty good and lasted a while.  I tried another kind but can't remember the name at the moment but when I do I will update,  but it was terrible it lasted maybe 2 sprays and was empty and it was more expensive than these three, which were all pretty cheap at under $5.

Any tricks to keeping your hair from getting oily when skipping washes?
